FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CALIFORNIA HOMEOWNERS GET CONNECTED WITH XANTREX's NEW GT 3.0 GRID TIE SOLAR INVERTER PLACERVILLE, CA, November 18, 2004 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- Homeowners Joe and Monique Sweeney recently discovered the joys of solar living when they had a solar electric system installed in their new 3,000 sq. ft. home in Placerville, California. Two Xantrex GT 3.0 Grid Tie Solar Inverters form the heart of the system that will supply clean, environmentally-friendly electricity to their household. This system marks one of the first residential grid tie installations of the GT 3.0 in the United States. Granite Bay Solar of Sacramento installed the 6 kW system, which incorporates 44 Sharp 165-watt solar panels. Solar distributor DC Power supplied the Xantrex GT 3.0 Inverters. "The GT 3.0 is the easiest inverter we have ever installed ¯ it decreased our install time by ten hours," said Robert Brashear, Granite Bay Solar's part owner and system installer. "It only weighs 45 pounds, so I could mount it by myself and the 600-volt DC disconnect included with the inverter eliminated the need to wire a separate one for each inverter." Holli Tamas, part owner and sales associate for Granite Bay Solar added: "The GT 3.0's wide input range and three-kilowatt power rating makes array sizing and system design more flexible. The inverters' competitive price, reduced installation time and integrated disconnect saved our company at least $1,500. "In addition, the efficiency of the GT 3.0 provides a higher rebate to the homeowners than another inverter we considered using," continued Tamas. "We have two jobs over the next two weeks requiring five inverters and we will definitely be using Xantrex." The Sweeney's system will receive the maximum three dollar per watt incentive for residential systems in California, about $18,000, and an additional 7.5 percent state tax credit of $2,600. Currently, their system is producing an average of 27 kWh per day, which will save them approximately $2,000 per year (18 cents per kWh) in annual utility costs. The main advantages of the GT 3.0 Grid Tie Solar Inverter are a lower dollar per watt cost, simplified installation, and superior solar energy harvest, which results in a cost savings and ensures that home owners get the most out of their solar system investment.
