EDR'S NEW PROPRIETARY DRY CLEANER/GAS STATION DATABASE FACILITATES POLLUTION SCREENING
MILFORD, CT, September 20, 2004 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- Environmental Data Resources Inc., a national provider of environmental risk management data, has included a search of a new proprietary database in its flagship report. Developed in-house from data found in historical city directories, the database contains information on over 100,000 former gas stations and dry cleaners. Due to the nature of these businesses, the sites have a high likelihood of soil and groundwater contamination.
The former dry cleaners and gas stations are located throughout the United States; each record includes name and address information along with the direction, distance and elevation of the site relative to the target property. Such information is critical in helping an environmental consultant determine whether contamination is likely to have migrated to a target site.
Results from a search of the database are automatically included in EDR's Radius Map Report™ when the report is ordered as part of a product package. Environmental professionals use EDR's product packages, which contain current government records and historical property information, to help identify potential pollution during a Phase I site assessment.
Beth Myers-Graham, a project environmental scientist with URS Corp., remarked, "The proprietary database is an added bonus in detailing gas station and dry cleaning facilities on and proximate to a subject site. We were able to identify a historic dry cleaning/laundry facility on a site in San Francisco from the 1930s to the 1960s via information obtained on EDR's list. This helped our client proceed quickly with additional investigation. The proprietary database is critical to painting a historic picture of a property."
