FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ARCTIC MOSQUITO KILLING SYSTEM ELIMINATES PESTS QUICKLY AND QUIETLY WITHOUT CHEMICALS JEFFERSON CITY, MO, September 12, 2005 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- The world's number one mosquito control device is a highly effective, environmentally friendly alternative to the use of chemicals that eliminates mosquitoes in backyards, and in restaurants, workplaces, parks, and campgrounds. The patented Arctic Mosquito Killing System uses the insects' natural hunting techniques of heat sensing and carbon dioxide detection to attract them. Once inside the unit, the mosquitoes are electrocuted quietly and quickly. The remains are expelled through the bottom of the unit and returned to the environment. The Mosquito Killing System mimics the body temperatures and breathing patterns of humans and animals to attract mosquitoes. It produces different body signatures, such as the temperature and breathing patterns of poultry, livestock, pets and humans. The system cycles every six to nine minutes, producing the different signatures. Entomologist Dr. Larry Olsen at Arkansas State University is a fan of the system. "No odor, no annoying sound. No pesticides in the environment. Just a clean, efficient, effective way to eliminate mosquitoes," he said. The Mosquito Killing System plugs into a regular household electrical outlet. The energy efficient system turns itself on and off to catch mosquitoes when they are most numerous. At dusk, when mosquitoes become active, a photocell in the unit closes and powers on the system. At dawn, when mosquitoes retreat, the photocell opens and powers the unit off. A plastic cap can be placed over the photo-sensor cell, which enables the machine to run continuously. It should cost roughly $6 to $8 per month for the electricity to operate the system. Protected by a safety guard at ground level, the system is safe around children and pets. The system is approved by the Underwriters' Laboratory, and displays the UL safety logo. Developed with technical assistance from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, the Arctic Mosquito Killing System eliminates more mosquitoes and reduces mosquito populations more completely in a one acre area than any other product on the market. The system is able to attract and kill a large number of mosquitoes in a single night, reducing the mosquito population in the problem area. Mosquitoes usually stay within 100 yards of their hatching site, and each mosquito caught is a female that can lay 300 eggs. For every 1,000 mosquitoes that are eliminated by the Arctic Mosquito Killing System, the mosquito population is reduced by 300,000. Mosquitoes can be hazardous to your health. They carry West Nile virus, which is now found across the continental United States. They also carry malaria, the most common and deadly of the mosquito-borne diseases. In the southern states, mosquitoes even carry dengue fever, which has appeared in the United States only recently. These are serious diseases that can be fatal. But chemical mosquito repellents are hazardous too. Duke University Medical Center researchers have found that prolonged use of repellents containing the insecticide DEET can impair functioning in parts of the human brain. They and other experts from the World Health Organization, the U.S. EPA, the U.S. Department of Defense and health officials from several states warn never to put a product containing DEET on an infant's or child's skin. Pesticides sprayed widely to kill mosquitoes at lakeside parks have been found to kill thousands of fish. Spraying of urban areas to control mosquitoes is hazardous to people with compromised immune systems, cancer survivors, people with allergies, children and the elderly. These pesticides are known to severely impact many aquatic species and nontarget insects. By contrast, the patented Arctic Mosquito Killing System is safe for humans and the environment. It uses an infrared heat source to attract the insects and gentle CO2 currents to simulate breathing. The mosquitoes are electrocuted once inside the self-cleaning system. The system can be purchased with or without the extra benefit of the carbon dioxide cylinder. The mosquitoes are still attracted to the infrared internal heat source in the unit, which attracts them by simulating the heat signature of their natural prey. The carbon dioxide gives the mosquitoes an extra attractant by making them think they have found a blood meal. The system also attracts No-See-Ums, gnats and biting flies but does not attract beneficial insects. University of Florida entomologist Dr. Chris Tipping confirms that the system kills only pest mosquitoes and does not attract beneficial insects. "After the additional testing of the traps was supplied to me, I have noted these machines continue to be exclusively attractive to several species of pest mosquitoes," he said. Arctic Mosquito Killing System is effective and convenient for all types of sports, hospitality and recreation facilities such as ballparks, golf courses, racetracks and stables, zoos, restaurants, hotels and swimming pool areas. As a safe and effective mosquito control device it is also highly recommended for use at hospitals, health clinics, schools, daycare centers and in the workplace. Belmont Park Racetrack in New York is a happy customer. Belmont General Foreman John Chilcott said, “At this time there is no acceptable risk when it comes to introducing chemicals around thoroughbreds. We could use anything to control mosquitoes and we chose the Mosquito Killing System by Arctic. It is environmentally safe and we are completely satisfied.” The U.S. Postal Station at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport was experiencing a serious problem with mosquitoes inside the building creating a health hazard for employees. "We installed the Mosquito Killing System at all the suspected mosquito entry points within the building," said Maintenance Manager Reggie Cauthen. "We immediately experienced a drastic decrease in the number of mosquitoes inside the building and have since had no additional problems." Municipalities can substitute these systems for their spray programs, saving thousands of dollars at the same time as they are keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment. The Arctic Mosquito Killing System has been tested worldwide. It is guaranteed to kill mosquitoes or your money back.
