Aqua-Therm, LLC Announces the Successful Completion of the Willmar Municipal Utilities Wind Energy Project
Aqua-Therm, a leader in alternative energy solutions, announced today that its Windations Division successfully completed work on the Willmar Municipal Utility (WMU) Wind Energy Project; a project that gained national recognition and interest.

NEW LONDON, Minn., July 26, 2009 (WORLD-WIRE) /PRNewswire/ -- Aqua-Therm, a New London, Minnesota company announced today that its Windations Division successfully completed the first phase of the Willmar Municipal Utility (WMU) Wind Energy Project. Working closely with DeWind, a turbine manufacturer, and WMU, Windations coordinated the supply of two 2-megawatt wind turbines to the project. David Laursen, owner of Aqua-Therm and Spicer, MN resident stated, “From the outset this has been an exciting project for Aqua-Therm. Living and working in the area makes it even more meaningful and gives us an elevated sense of pride in the project. The large number of inquires Aqua-Therm received regarding the WMU project is indicative of the heightened level of interest in community wind energy throughout the country. The positive exposure our community received has really been wonderful.”

Windations was formed by David Laursen and Dwight Laursen in 2006 with the objective of facilitating community wind projects like the WMU project. Dwight Laursen, President & CEO stated “We were constantly seeing larger wind energy projects, usually 25 megawatts to 100’s of megawatts in size getting all the attention from key suppliers. When a smaller project was put out for bid, the turbine manufacturers literally wouldn’t respond. It was a classic imbalance of supply and demand. If a wind energy project was designed for less than 10 megawatts, the manufacturers just didn’t have the interest or ability to respond.”

In 2006, Windations identified DeWind as a technologically advanced turbine manufacturer and forged an exclusive agreement with them. Through that unique agreement, Windations enables public and private sector organizations to effectively and efficiently develop smaller scale wind energy projects.

“Windations chose DeWind primarily for their superior technology over other turbine manufacturers,” stated Bill Wright, Vice President of Engineering. “This couldn’t have been a better opportunity for us. To bring together a turbine manufacturer offering advanced, superior technology, and the community we all live and work in, was pretty exciting for all of us. Everyone at Aqua-Therm has been involved in this project from the very beginning,” added Bill.

As a result of the growing need for more personal and individual alternative energy solutions, Aqua-Therm and Windations recently merged and expanded their company focus. The expanded company has added residential and light commercial wind energy products providing 600 watts to 15 kilowatts. Aqua-Therm is now setting out to do for homeowners what Windations has done for community wind projects.

Aqua-Therm has been in the alternative energy business for over 26 years and is a nationally known company offering complete alternative energy solutions. “We have everything from our original product, the Aqua-Therm outdoor wood fired boiler, to highly efficient and low emission pellet boilers, to solar and, now our newest product group, small residential and light commercial wind energy products. Aqua-Therm can now assist home owners with a complete line of high-quality, alternative energy products,” added Reid Kubesh, President of Aqua-Therm.

"Aqua-Therm has been evolving into one of the only complete alternative energy companies offering a full range of quality residential and light commercial solutions. The addition of small and affordable wind energy products, along with solar, its popular line of Eco-One outdoor wood boilers, the 92% efficient Pellet-One boiler, and Econoburn indoor boilers marks a key step toward a market strategy focused on bringing wide-ranging alternative energy solutions to residential and small commercial customers,” stated David Laursen. “With the current government stimulus programs, there are special opportunities for grant monies and tax credits that make now possibly the best time ever for homeowners to affordably reduce their energy costs while also taking part in the 'Greenification' of the United States.”

Aqua-Therm will be showing their expanded line of quality alternative energy products at the upcoming Minnesota State Fair this year, located in what used to be known as “Machinery Hill”, next to KQRS.

Aqua-Therm has been in the alternative energy business since 1983 and is a market leader with its popular Eco-One Outdoor Wood-Fired Boiler.
