SOLAR INDUSTRY GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP FOR 2004 AND BEYOND
WASHINGTON, DC, August 16, 2004 –-/WORLD-WIRE The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade group representing solar energy manufacturers, component suppliers and distributors, today announced new leadership.
Chris O’Brien, Washington Representative for Sharp Solar USA, assumed the role of President of the SEIA Board of Directors, replacing Chet Farris, CEO of Shell Solar, who resigned from the company. Gordon Handelsman will now represent Shell Solar on the SEIA Board of Directors.
Scott Sklar, SEIA’s Interim Executive Director, lauded Farris’ tenure and praised O’Brien, saying O’Brien would bring “sound judgment and strong leadership to the U.S. solar industry.”
Rhone Resch has been named Executive Director and will assume his duties on September 1st, 2004. SEIA President O’Brien stated, “Rhone’s background at EPA and his senior position with the Natural Gas Supply Association typifies the kind of person the solar industry needs – substantive environmental and industry background coupled with solid energy experience.”
SEIA thanked Scott Sklar for assuming interim leadership after running the Association 15 years previously, after a 4 year absence running The Stella Group, Ltd., to which he will return full time.
