FE CLEAN ENERGY GROUP INC. ANNOUNCES INVESTMENT IN THAILAND’S SAHASIN ENERGY CENTER

DARIEN, CT, July 5, 2007 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- After the May completion of construction and the finalization of testing, the Sahasin Biomass generation facility is now functioning and producing steam. FE Global/Asia Clean Energy Services Fund L.P. and the FEGACE Asia Sub-Fund L.P. own a 64% interest in the equity of the project. The total equity financial commitment to the project was $1.375 million.

The project, Sahasin Cogen Limited, owned by Thailand Clean Energy Limited and ESCO Ventures Limited, will provide steam, heat, and electricity to Sahasinwattana Starch & Sweetener Company, a local starch producer.

The unit will burn a combination of biomass, coal, and biogas in its boilers, and generate electricity in a cogeneration configuration. An additional benefit is the project’s expected generation of tradable carbon credits through the Kyoto Protocol.

The project will supply Sahasin Starch and Sweetener Company with up to 25 tons per hour of steam. All produced electricity will be sold to Sahasin during the 8-year project holding period. The project’s timing is significant because Thailand’s total energy demand has been increasing annually at a rate of 4% since 2001.

Thailand’s Energy Strategy currently promotes the use of alternative and renewable energy in the country’s efforts to move away from dependency on fossil fuels and create competition between clean energy industries.

Using its large agricultural production base, Thailand consumes biomass as a significant source of renewable energy, making up approximately 16% of the country’s primary energy use. From 2000 to 2004, at the approval of the Thai Cabinet, the total required generating capacity increased by approximately 920 MW per year. This requirement is expected to increase to 1,200 to 1,500 MW by 2012.
