FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE VINTAGE TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE POSTERS OFFERED TO PROMOTE SEA TURTLE CONSERVATION GAINESVILLE, FL, April 11, 2007 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have returned to the big screen to fight evil doers on land and sea, and you can help them fight sea turtle extinction by adopting an endangered turtle through the Caribbean Conservation Corp. (CCC). For a limited time only, when you adopt a sea turtle you will receive a highly collectible vintage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle poster depicting the shelled crime-fighters in action protecting sea turtles.
Developed in association with Mirage Studios, creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the rare poster offered in association with this promotion was based on the cover art of a special 1990 TMNT comic book, in which the Turtles do battle with shrimp fishermen who are killing sea turtles by trawling without mandatory "turtle excluder devices." A long forgotten stash of the posters was discovered recently and is being offered to turtle enthusiasts through this promotion to generate support for CCC's sea turtle conservation work.
Sea Turtles have roamed the Earth's oceans for over 150 million years. Early explorers witnessed these fascinating creatures traveling the seas in large fleets. But today, all seven species face extinction. Sea turtles have to combat ocean pollution, commercial fishing, coastal construction and harvesting of turtles for their shells and meat. It's estimated that just one out of 1,000 sea turtle hatchlings survives the 30-50 years it takes to reach reproductive age. The nonprofit Caribbean Conservation Corp. is the world's oldest marine turtle research and conservation organization. Founded in 1959 by renowned sea turtle scientist Dr. Archie Carr, the Florida-based organization is dedicated to ensuring the survival of sea turtles through research, education, advocacy and the protection of natural habitats upon which they depend. You can adopt a turtle for just $25. For this you become a member of CCC and receive a personalized adoption certificate, sea turtle conservation guide, logo magnet and sticker, as well as a year-long subscription to CCC's quarterly publication that keeps members inspired and updated on crucial sea turtle issues. To receive one of the vintage TMNT posters a contribution of at least $50 is required, and be aware that there is a very limited quantity of the posters available, so act with ninja speed. To adopt a sea turtle call the Caribbean Conservation Corporation toll free at 800-678-7853 or visit the web site at www.cccturtle.org. You can visit the official Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle website at www.ninjaturtles.com. Help CCC and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles stop sea turtle extinction with a swift karate chop.
