TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA EUREKA, NEVADA PONY EXPRESS CELEBRATION

EUREKA, NV, June 5, 2006 --/WORLD-WIRE/--
WANTED: HORSES, MULES, WAGONS, RIDERS, re-enactors AND CELEBRATORS for the 2006 TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA 146th Anniversary of the Pony Express. A Re-Ride Celebration, June 3rd through 12th in Historic Eureka, Nevada.

In the Spirit of Cooperative Conservation for Great Outdoors Month and National Trails Day, the National Pony Express Association, Nevada Division, and the White Buffalo Nation, dedicated to Mending the Sacred Hoop, in partnership with the Department of the Interior's TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA program, and the Battle Mountain, Nevada, Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service request the honor of your presence at the 2006 TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA Pony Express Celebration in Eureka, Nevada, June 3rd through 12th.

The Celebration begins June 3rd for National Trails Day with Pony Express Trail marking on 21 miles of the Pony Express National Historic Trail in Historic Eureka County, home to five Pony Express stations - Dry Creek, Grubbs Well, Roberts Creek, Sulphur Springs, and Diamond Valley.

June 6, 6-10 p.m. at the historic Eureka Opera House, in Eureka, Nevada, the Living and Passed 1960 Centennial Riders of Eureka County will be honored, and Pony Express Youth Contest winners awarded. Speakers include Steve Notterman, Re-Ride Captain, National Pony Express Association, Nevada Division, who has ridden the annual Re-Ride for Eureka for 10 years; and David Jamiel, Director, the California Trails Interpretive Center in Elko, Nevada and renowned period re-enactor. There will be a showing of Red Steagall's The Pony Express.

June 7th, annual Re-Riders'-sponsored potluck barbecue, 4 p.m., "Meet & Greet" the 21 Eureka Riders, Roberts Creek Ranch

June 8th, 146th Year Commemorative Re-Ride, 1996 miles in 10 days from Sacramento, California to St. Joseph, Missouri rides through Roberts Creek, 9:30 p.m. approximately

June 10th-11th, Family Leisure Ride/Rendezvous with 1860s period re-enactors, David & Shirley Jamiel and Lori Tanner of Wagon Trails West and her covered Wagon

Wagon rides available. Families with horses and hikers welcome. Bring tents, folding chairs, water and camping supplies. Free camping.

June 11th, 10 a.m., Nevada Secretary of State, Dean Heller, and a representative from the Department of the Interior to be sworn in as Pony Express Agents by Steve Notterman. Musical entertainment Tawnie Lee & the Old Fogies. Bi-partisan, national, state and local candidates' forum to follow.

This is part of an ongoing Cooperative Conservation partnership between W.B.N., Inc., the Nevada Pony Express Association, Nevada Division; the Department of the Interior's TAKE PRIDE IN AMERICA program; the Bureau of Land Management; and National Park Service and residents of Eureka County.
