FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE WERF RELEASES BIOSOLIDS RESEARCH SUMMIT REPORT ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 30, 2004 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- Proceedings From the Biosolids Research Summit (stock no. 03HHE1) is now available for free download from the WERF website at http://www.werf.org. The report captures the highest-priority research projects regarding land application of Class A and Class B treated sewage sludge/biosolids as determined by participants of the Biosolids Research Summit. The Water Environment Research Foundation has allocated $200,000 to move forward on the top ranked research project identified at the Summit. That project, Methodology for Implementing a Rapid Incident Response Mechanism, will aim to create a rapid response system to investigate reported health effects from land application of biosolids. WERF is currently coordinating with U.S. EPA on the first steps of this project, a workshop in which a group of diverse stakeholders will gather to draft a scope of work for an acceptable pilot project. All attendees of the Summit will automatically receive one free printed copy of the report over the next couple of weeks. Additional copies can be ordered for $10 (printing costs only).
