SUSTAINABILITY AT WORK

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA, April 13, 2004, --/World-Wire/-- The Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul will host the 2004 EnvironDesign conference, an event destined to build on the overwhelming support already received from many of the leading environmental advocates in the business, design and academic communities there, with strong support from state and local government as well as NGO organizations. Minneapolis has emerged as one of the nation's greenest cities, propelled by Mayor R.T. Rybak's focus on the environment and his emphasis to push forward a Green City Initiative.

What Is EnvironDesign?
EnvironDesign is the premier annual conference showcasing all that is truly revolutionary about what's happening to advance environmental stewardship and sustainable development in both the public and private sector. It is one of the most well-respected symposiums dealing with the topics of sustainable design and business practices and their ability to be incorporated into mainstream America.

EnvironDesign is a celebration of all the good and positive things that are happening in many market segments in regard to the environment. It is about the important issues on the grassroots, the national and the international stage; it is about the people who are making efforts-both big and small-to tackle these challenges head-on; it is about the specific actions being taken, the concrete and oftentimes creative solutions to problems from which we can learn and devise even more remedies.

Now in its eighth year, the EnvironDesign conference has been expanded to strengthen the dialogue between all business-to-business enterprises. During the two-and-a-half day event, participants will have a chance to learn from the visionaries who are changing the environmental landscape in the 21st century. The result will be a dynamic, ground-breaking event that literally can change your professional career and personal life forever.

How Is the Conference Formatted?
EnvironDesign effectively combines a number of different learning and networking opportunities to deliver essential information regarding real-life challenges and concrete solutions. It attracts a diverse audience from a number of market segments. This serves to enhance not only the event's formal learning opportunities, but also stimulates engaging, insightful dialogue that strengthens the conference's take-home value.

    Conference highlights include:

  • Keynote addresses by some of the most renowned and articulate champions of the Earth.

  • Workshop sessions in 10 major tracks: Green Theory & Design; Green Business Practices; Communities; Case Studies; Product Design & Development; Energy; Materials; Health & Safety; Future Trends; and Sustainable Mobility.

  • A Product Learning Center where attendees can explore the eco-friendly advances of product and service suppliers, as well as government agencies and NGOs.

  • Pre- and post-conference workshops that explore sustainable design practices and programs in comprehensive detail.

. Site Tours of some of the local area's greatest green building achievements.
What Sponsorship Opportunities Are Available?
Year after year, attendees overwhelming cite the time spent in the Product Learning Center as being especially valuable as they strive to transform their businesses toward sustainability. In fact, a recent survey indicated that 90 percent of EnvironDesign attendees discover new products and technologies in the Product Learning Center, while 82% of attendees say they do business with the sponsors they discovered there. Why? Because the Product Learning Center provides time for in-depth, one-on-one dialogue with manufacturers in order to learn more about their environmental programs and processes, as well as the advances being made in the area of "green" products and resources.

Four levels of sponsorships are available to suppliers and organizations. Please see the "Sponsorship Opportunities" page for a detailed list of sponsor benefits (see click-thru bottom on left side of this page). Or call 561-627-3393 to speak with one of our account executives. A list of EnvironDesign7 sponsors can be found by clicking on the "Sponsors: Product Learning Center" button under EnvironDesign7, also on the left side of this page.

Who Attends?
EnvironDesign has grown, year by year, from a small, intimate gathering of the passionate and the curious into an event where you need to be if you're a player in the sustainability movement. Both the scope and the influence of the conference has grown significantly, mirroring the environmental movement itself. EnvironDesign has earned its standing as the "must-attend" event for anyone who strives for ensuring that sustainability becomes the standard, not the exception, for the way companies conduct business in the 21st century.

Attendees hail from a variety of professional backgrounds: environmental executives, architects, designers, facility managers, real estate developers, engineers, non-profit executives, consultants, manufacturers, government executives, educators, students and journalists.

Here's what some of previous year's participants had to say about EnvironDesign:
" This was my third EnvironDesign and I really appreciated the breadth of topics covered by the speakers. I was challenged to think more than I have in the past. I think that the speakers challenged the conference to move beyond dealing with the 'believers' and strive to make the ideals mainstream. I would encourage the planning committee to continue to push the envelope of diverse speakers in an effort to engage every aspect of sustainability."

" I feel so excited and energized since going to the conference! The speakers were great, the attendance was phenomenal and it was such an honor to just be there!!"

" From now on, I am going to try and do more business with these firms after learning what they do to help the environment!"

" I thought that most speakers had great ideas for integrating sustainability into actual projects. Also, they all had innovative ideas on how to inspire others outside of the design community to take action."

" I appreciated the range of approaches provided by the speakers-from the political and pragmatic to the idealistic and abstract. Many of the speakers had provocative and thought provoking ideas."
