FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE APPLIED ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS IN AGRICULTURE CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED FOR MAY 25 AND 26, 2004 LENEXA, KANSAS, April 12, 2004 --/WORLD-WIRE/-- SES, Inc. (SES) located in Lenexa, Kansas is announcing that a national two-day conference focusing on environmental management systems (EMS) and how they relate to production agriculture, grazing lands, and food production and processing will be held May 25 and 26, 2004 in Kansas City at the Hilton Garden Inn Kansas City/Kansas. This conference is a unique collaborative effort sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service, SES, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, National Milk Producers Federation, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City, an affiliate of the American Royal Association and the EPA's National Agriculture Compliance Assistance Center. In addition, this conference is being promoted by the Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska Farm Bureaus. This important conference will feature speakers from across the country that will address environmental management issues in major agricultural sectors and promote a practical discussion on EMS already being implemented. Emphasis will be placed on the benefits and challenges faced during the creation and implementation process. Discussions also will include information about current incentive programs and how new incentives could further promote the use of EMS in agriculture. This conference is focused not only on information exchange but also on the concept of building public/private partnerships to promote environmental protection and conservation of our natural resources. In addition, the conference will provide networking opportunities for the agriculture community with various service providers. The conference will include an exhibit area to highlight businesses and other organizations that can assist the agriculture community develop, implement or verify an EMS as well as those that can provide EMS training. Exhibitor space is limited and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Conference attendees will include medium to large producers, processors and farmers; environmental and agricultural consultants; local, federal and state government personnel; commodity organizations; agricultural and environmental organizations; agricultural service providers; and other individuals interested in the EMS process as it relates to agriculture.
