SHEFFIELD LABORATORIES PRODUCES FOR TOM'S OF MAINE DURING FACTORY FIRE CRISIS

NEW LONDON, CT, February 2, 2005 --/WORLD-WIRE/--
Tom’s of Maine has awarded Sheffield Laboratories its G.E.M. Award for outstanding performance. In late July 2004, Tom’s of Maine came to Sheffield Laboratories in a total crisis. A fire had recently ravaged their production facility in Kennebunk, Maine, crippling their ability to produce their world famous line of all natural toothpastes.

Concerned with their ability to meet orders and their stock running dangerously low, Tom’s knew they needed to find a partner who could respond quickly to produce the products they desperately needed. They found such a partner in Sheffield Laboratories.

Within a 3-week period Sheffield was up and running producing Tom’s of Maine products. In order to handle the customer’s needs, Sheffield implemented a third shift to accommodate the increase in volume and meet all the customer’s stringent quality requirements.
A substantial investment was made in additional tube filling equipment and support machinery. In a short span of time, Sheffield successfully produced for Tom’s of Maine over 1.7 million units of toothpaste spanning over 30 sku’s.

Sheffield prides itself on its commitment to supporting its partners and on its sales success and growth over the past few years.

“While we have grown significantly over the past several years,” states company President Thomas H. Faria, “we have not lost our core company strength which is our ability to respond to our customer needs and always meet the challenge. This situation was a perfect example of this.”
